“Mountains are not Stadiums where I satisfy my ambition to achieve, they are the cathedrals where I practice my religion…I go to them as humans go to worship. From their lofty summits I view my past, dream of the future and, with an unusual acuity, am allowed to experience the present moment…my vision cleared, my strength renewed. In the mountains I celebrate creation. On each journey I am reborn.”  Anatoli Boukreev

This quote sums up perfectly the approach I have to my own journey through the mountains. Over the years I’ve been fortunate to have done a fair bit of Hillwalking, Trail Walking and Trekking in the U.K. and abroad.

I’ve always kept a walking journal and this website has become an online extension of that journal. A place where I can record my observations, thoughts and reflections on the walks and trails I do.

Each post is accompanied by my own photography and a route map with stats and geolocated pictures of the walk described.

I’ve put hyperlinks (in red) to the Wikipedia page for relevant places mentioned in each so you can read more about them if you like.

I have set myself the goal of walking all the Wainwright’s. You can read more about that Here
